![]() If It Were Up To Me appears on Cheryl's Rounder Records CD entitled Sylvia Hotel. |
"If it were up to me, I'd take away the guns" Cheryl Wheeler released a single this past January called "If It Were Up to Me," a song she recorded several years ago that is particularly relevant today. In response to the never ending media analysis of the reasons for violence in our young people, Cheryl's song lists every imaginable reason why kids are resorting to violence and ends with the line "If it were up to me, I'd take away the guns." Cheryl has been a long-standing and vocal advocate of keeping guns out of the hands of kids. In January Rounder Records launched a campaign donating $5 to the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence (CPHV) every time the song was played on adult-album alternative radio. Rounder has decided to reinstate the gun control gift campaign, with the proceeds again going to the CPHV. Rounder has also made the song available on its Web site courtesy of LiquidAudio at http://www.rounder.com.
